Caroline Wexler (Kat Dennings) are facing the nightmare of a young man: his father's widow moved to a small town, a city with a major tourist attraction is the fire industry, which seem to burn forever. All children under the age of nineteen permanently stoned. Finding new ways to get high is an important hobby for most of her classmates, including Thurston poor (Reece Thompson) who falls for Caroline, although he was more interested in someone better. And then there is a small weakness of a villain in the surrounding environment.
Visual charming, funny and has a fine share of chills, Daydream Nation is a brilliant debut Mike Goldbach (who co-wrote the children Don McKellar Star). A smart and funny account of confusion and anxiety are often young, the film explains the vast gulf between the world of adults and youth. No parent really knows how to get out of control their children, but adults in this world do not seem more mature than their counterparts who are younger.
Daydream nation Dennings driven by exceptional performance of a girl who is too smart to get caught up in adolescent melodrama, but has only a fragile grip on his mood. The film is driven by Caroline, a strong mix of sarcasm, naive and confused. Dennings is supported by a wonderful cast that includes Josh Lucas, Ted Whittall, Katie Boland, Rachel Blanchard and Andie MacDowell as Thurston overwhelmed single mother, but strong.
Goldbach smooth and effective overlapping genres here: first, this film is a presentation of the lives of adolescents, using the elements of tension to invest the character with a serious dilemma. The main characters are young, but their fatal decision. Daydream Nations announced the presence of skilled and passionate voices in Canadian film scene.
